As I was driving back from MIA today after dropping someone off for a flight I drove through the the sunpass lanes on 112 and just thought to myself why are we still building toll roads with boths in this country. We can warehouses where all locations of products are known real-time as they move, we have hospitals where a baby can’t be taken into the wrong room with out staff being notified. But on our roads we still have to have someone sit in a small both and collect payment while causing unneeded traffic congestions, decreased fuel efficentcy and unneeded construction and labor cost. Here a toll implementation that completely removed the booths and implemented the automatic surcharge for vehicles not registered under the toll system or equiped with an RFID transmitter. The surcharge was not a fine it was just a higher toll charge that would be mailed to the registered owners address. Hey Ben, According to Javier Rodriguez of MDX, all of our toll expressways will be electronic in the coming years. It is only a matter of time. They have been phasing them in slowly, and are moving to make the Sunpass a sticker that you place on your car (rather than the large transponder). We’ll keep you posted.
Well, if you want the government to know everywhere you are driving to, then you use the sunpass. I refuse to let those bastards know where I am going. It’s just another way to track your movements. Installing an rfid chip used to be considered being big brother. I am not sure what has happened in this country. People used to despise these types of surveillance society type things. Here is another thing, what will happen to those jobs at the toll booths? A little bit of congestion is not to big of a proce to pay to keep the state from tracking your movements.
