This picture was taken this morning on South Miami Avenue and 11th Street in Brickell – the same intersection I reported on previously on November 23rd.
I did not personally witness the crash, but given the significant damage to the car and the way the debris was scattered, it’s safe to assume a high rate of speed was a factor.
Brickell’s new ‘Triangle Park’ is under construction just to the right of the picture. Let’s add some basic traffic calming measures around the park so we can all enjoy it without having to dodge flying shards of plastic, glass and metal on our way there.

I understand your concern for the Brickell area. But I’ve rarely seen anyone do 45 mph thru there at the times I’ve gone thru the area, simply can’t be done with all the construction going on there. Too much stop and go gridlock. Once you get away from the area, motorists enter downtown 45 mph rarely happens there too.
This is a one way street and I see cars speeding through here all the time. As usual the County Public Works Department did a half-assed job with their attempt to calm traffic on this stretch. There aren’t any stop signs or traffic calming devices from SW 13th Street until SW 10th Street. Although they did add bike lanes and a crosswalk, the travel lanes are still too wide and encourage speeding. Although there is a slight improvement, more needs to be done. We shouldn’t continue to accept mediocrity. We need raised crosswalks and a stop sign at SW 11th street.
Yeah, that was definitely not a 45 mph accident, but it was an accident none the less in an area where cars should be slowed down more than they are, just short of banned completely.
OMG, I posted to SeeClickFix over 2 years ago to turn that triangle into a park! I wonder if someone from the city actually reads that website?
