Tags. Bombs. Throw-Ups and pieces. Such were the vocabularies of yesterday’s “Graffiti by Bicycle Tour : What Art Basel Left Behind”. Around 150 riders took to the streets of Wynwood yesterday for an idyllic afternoon of street art on two wheels. Led by Emerge Miami’s Dario Gonzalez and Olga Cano, the couple took the group though the awe-inspiring outdoor murals of Primary Flight and Wynwood Walls - Miami’s original open air museum and street art mural installation.
Since 2007, over 250 world-class artists from around the globe descend on the Wynwood Arts District during Art Basel to collaborate on high-profile wall murals in what has become the largest exhibition of it’s kind in the world. Dario and Olga skillfully narrated information on the different artists and crews as well as explaining the various rules and codes that ensure the integrity of the projects.
A slow roll through Wynwood allowed the group to intimately experience the transformation of the neighborhood and it’s ever-changing artistry; an experience that simply could not be replicated from behind a windshield.
