Gotta love the advertising on the bikes. How much publicity does Visa really need? And do they really get anything with plastering their names on the back wheels of rent-a-bikes?

I wonder how long until Paris’ beautiful bikes are smothered with ads. The French may have a bit more class… we’ll see.

I love this idea, I wish we had those here, and incentives to build public showers in offices.
I don’t mind the advertising if it helps keep the program going. I guess if we did that in Miami, we would have ugly brito “art” on the bikes.

Chris, See the advertising on the Oslo Bikes?

    The New York Times!?!?

Yeah I had noticed that. But definitely better than Brito art. Oh please no Brito.

Before seeing this, I had though Paris was ahead of the game with their electronic system but it seems other countries were already there.

10 bucks the U.S. example (San Fran) is geared toward tourists rather than people living there (at least they are trying…).

When I was in Aix-en-Provence in the late ’70s they had community bicycles that anyone could use in the downtown area – no charge. They paid for the bikes with advertising on the front basket. All of the bikes were painted pink.

I guess that couldn’t happen now because of the liability. Of course, here in Miami, all the bikes would soon be on a freighter for sale in the Caribbean or Central America.
