When it rains, it pours. Diana Moskovitz of the Miami Herald reports that two bicyclists were struck yesterday on State Road 84 in Davie. The negligent driver side-swiped the bicyclists and continued driving. Both were sent to the hospital and fortunately were not killed. Interestingly, some reports have said the bicyclists were off-duty Miami police officers. More to come if and when more information is available.

I read an article online this weekend about the wife of the West Virginia governor who was hit by a car while riding her bicycle with her husband and his security detail, no less. Luckily, her injuries were minor. Also, a lengthy article on msnbc dot com about how U.S. lags in bicycling infrastructure, what else is new? I hope the two injured cyclists are ok. I wonder how that critically injured cyclist on the MacArthur Causeway is doing?
I swear, South Floridians think it’s optional to stop after hitting someone.
Hope they’re ok. I hate reading this stuff as I commute by bike often…
I think bicyclists should start carrying guns. If a car comes to close, shoot. It’s self defense!
Too bad judges wouldn’t view it that way. I wish at least we could start treating the car legally like a weapon as it is treated in some other countries such as Mexico. If you hit someone, it’s the same as using a weapon on them. That’s what this guy who mowed down pedestrians in Spain did.
