Metro Monday: San Francisco 1905-1906

In 1905, an unknown cameraman filmed a streetcar trip along San Francisco’s Market Street. The following year, the Great Earthquake struck, and he filmed the trip again. This is a five-minute silent film that edits together excerpts of his two films.

    amazing how the level of development, the number of cars and the whole city seems like it fell 50 years back in time after the earthquake. the lack of cars, the overburdened transit system, the rubble. is this our fate if we do nothing about Global Warming and disaster strikes us?
