Transitography 14

What urban museum is illustrated here? Showing the qualities that many of our readers find to be the most important for a museum in an urban park. Lots of green space. Structure not imposing of the natural elements, but vice versa. Design ingenuity. Walkability. To name just a few.

Is that the Ghetty? That is an incredibly beautiful museum.

No, not the Getty. I fully expect Museum Park to surpass this beautiful institution in its design and landscaping.

    James,

Is it in the Midwest or Pacific regions? I know its not an art Museum, I just can’t remember where it is…

Bicentennial Park is not about to see any museums anytime soon. (Bicentennial Park is sometimes called Museum Park by lobbyists and museum staffers). Miami Art Museum and Miami Science Museum are unable to raise enough money privately to get their massive monuments to their egos off the ground. If only they coveted new buildings more fitting their small stature and meager budgets.

Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park, Chicago. If it’s a modern art, science or nature museum, I’ve seen them all. (Ok, so I had to google for the name, I only remembered it was a museum in Chicago).

You can visit the museum at http://www.naturemuseum.org The Museum is an eco-trendsetter and spearheaded green-roofing in Chicago. It would behoove Miami to emulate Chicago’s efforts to improve urban life with mass transit and open space conservation ~~mike in miami
