Design Excellence-Low Budget-On Time

This intriguing new structure by Thom Mayne/Morphosis can help to clear up any misgivings about great architecture and limited budgets. The San Francisco Federal building is an 18 story building and was brought in under budget at 144 million dollars, about $249 / square foot. This very reasonable price for such a major structure shows that with careful planning and innovative conscious designers anything is possible.

What a hideous looking building. No windows needed? But the point is taken, it just seems that the major structures that the County has a hand in here in MD always wind up bloated and costly. It may just be related to the County Manager or the people he has in charge of these structures, ie PAC, and MIA Terminal

There are windows behind the mesh skin that is a GREEN feature. And I don’t think this is the most flattering angle, but I disagree that is is hideous. It was just reviewed in House and Garden as one of the most important new buildings in 50 years.

I have seen it before it opened and it is very nice. Yes, the windows is a green feature, you see it on may buildings in Germany.
