Maybe we should consider that affordable and downtown don’t belong in the same sentence. I think they should stop trying to build housing in the CBD and continue trying to build it around lower use Metrorail stations. The Allapatah station project was a rare good idea. I think it should be duplicated around Northside, Earlington Heights, MLK, Hialeah, etc… Those are the neighborhoods in which people who buy into projects would be willing to live and building in those neighborhoods might even help revitalize them a little. Whereas building projects close to the CBD will not only NOT help to revitalize that area, it might even hinder its gentrification process.
